Finishing Drill – One on One Cut Throat
This basketball drill is great to find out who your most aggressive and most competitive players are. It’s a good drill to work on isolation plays and to learn how to defend players in one on one situations
Keys to success: The offensive player earns a point for getting fouled or scoring a basket. The defensive player earns a point for a defensive stop or forcing a turnover. I find it best to limit the offensive player’s chance to one shot (no offensive rebounding) to ensure the line-up is moving quickly. The offensive player must dribble at least once – this is to ensure a competitive possession every time (no catch and shoot allowed). The players waiting in line can do quick conditioning drills (sprints, push ups, sit ups, etc).
Elapsed Time: This can be run for a desired amount of time or until one player (the winner) reaches a desired score. I like to play to five points.
